I bought this because we had a new hardwood floor put in the kitchen and are having tile floors in other parts of the house. It is super quiet and does a nice job of cleaning the floor without a lot of residue water which you do not want on wood. The floor must be vacuumed before cleaning as it doesn’t pick anything up, but that is common sense. It makes washing the floor easy and fun.

I bought this after much online research and figured it had to be too good to be true. A product that would clean without chemicals, not be hard to use, and not need a million pieces! This mop is very light to move, the pad is easy to clean via wash or sink. I most like how it doesn’t leave streaks. Everything else I’ve used on my sealed hardwood floors leaves streaks. No more on my hands and knees! The only things that are a little pain are that you have to take the pad off the bottom after use so that you don’t leave a wet spot (no different than any other mop), the cord tends to be on the short side, there is no way to turn it off except by unplugging it, and that if you aren’t careful with the amount of steam you will have to go over the flooring with a towel. This is only a problem on the wood, on ceramic it dries without problem. I’ve been on the lookout for a product that is easy and efficient. After having mine for a month I am still happy and would recommend it to anyone. Oh, this is Randall’s wife writing the review.

I have 2 dogs, and one is still house and crate training. I try to be as chem free as possible where the dogs are concerned, my floors and their crates. I borrowed my dad’s SHARK steam mop, and it worked fine, but it was flimsy, and I knew that I would be using the mop multiple times a day when the dogs track mud in or the puppy has an accident– So I got the Bissell Steam Mop- and it is WONDERFUL! The unit is far sturdier from top to bottom and it is actually multi-functional. I use it as intended with the micro fiber cover to mop the floor, but then I take off the cover and am able to get a direct jet of steam that I can use in the corners of the tiled bathroom that the mop doesn’t reach or that gross caked up mess that shows up in that corner under the fridge– I was able to shoot the area with steam for about 20 seconds with the uncovered mop and then it wiped easily away with a paper towel- I always keep the water bottle filled and use it everyday! I heard that microfiber mop pads shrink in the dryer, so i wash them in the laundry and then take them out wet and put back on to the steam mop wet to air dry in the shape they need to stay in.

I bought this steam mop because I have over 1,400 square feet of hardwood floors. I have a dog that is constantly dragging dirt in. Reading some of the other reviews, I was hesitant about using the steam on hardwoods. It does a great job of lifting dirt and sticky dried messes off the floor. I still have to go over the floor with a micro fiber mop and Method brand cleaner for hardwood to prevent streaking. I used to just use the micro fiber with the Method brand cleaner and it was a workout to get the floors cleaned, but since the floors are a little damp after using the Bissell I just give the floors a once over. Just a hint for those that end up with “puddles”, don’t constantly press the steam button. The mop cloth only needs to be damp to do the job. If the steam button is on continuously of course you will end up with soaking wet floors.
